Deposit & Visa Status

So we sent in our deposit of $5000 today via wire transfer from our bank so I guess that means we are officially going.

Our next step is to take care of the Visas. Just an FYI for those planning to make the trip, make sure to check off "double entry" on your Visa forms because we were informed that the airports close early in some parts of China, so if you have a lay over in a different part than you are going you need the double entry to continue on.

Another thing, if you don't use a Visa service you have to go directly to the nearest consulate and file yourself. For us that meant New York City. It costs per person $190 which includes the Visa processing fee, service fee, and the return mailing fee. For us it was a whole lot cheaper to do it that way instead of paying expenses to get to New York.
